Technological Modelling – Some strategies

Technological Modelling will be introduced and examined, including an opportunity to explore the updated Indicators of Progression. Examples of Technological Modelling, both in the classroom environment and within a technologist's practice, will be discussed. The difference between conceptual and procedural learning will be explored and the need to provide students with both within the context of Technological Modelling will be considered. In small groups participants will then have an opportunity to interact with provided example strategies and activities that they could use in their classrooms. Participants will then be given the time and support to develop their own strategies and activities to support Technological Modelling.
Intended Audience
Primary, Intermediate and Secondary teachers of technology.
Biography
Selena is the facilitator for the Resource Development and Facilitation Year 7-10 Technology Project, a GIF initiative project. This project aims to build teacher capability and to provide quality Techlink resources in Years 7-10 Technology education. Selena has been both a classroom and technology specialist teacher in a range of primary and intermediate schools. She has a Masters of Education Degree (First Class Honours) and her research was in the area of assessment and progression of learning in technology.
